Description
Built around your training week, not around a fixed routine. A sports massage uses varied pressure and techniques chosen for where you are: two days before a race is treated differently from two days after. €120 for 60 minutes, in the spa of a five-star hotel on Dam Square.
- Duration: 60 minutes
- Price: €120
- Location: Spa & Wellness Club, Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, Dam Square
- Languages: English and Dutch
- Open to: Everyone. You do not need to be an athlete or a hotel guest
The word sports puts people off unnecessarily. If you run three times a week, lift, cycle to work, or sit at a desk and then train hard twice a week, this is aimed at you. Our therapists also coach strength training, so they know what a squat pattern does to your hips and what marathon week does to your calves.
What you get
- Timed to your week. Pre-event is brisker and shorter, two to three days before. Post-event is slower, 24 to 72 hours after. Maintenance is the default.
- Techniques chosen per area. Effleurage, cross-fibre friction, stretching and trigger point work, applied to the muscles your sport loads most.
- Mobility drills to take home. Five minutes of work that targets the same tissue, which is where the effect holds.
- An honest referral if it is not right. Acute injury or suspected tear? We send you to a physiotherapist rather than take your booking.
- Spa access included. Locker rooms, bathrobes, towels, amenities, water and coffee.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to be an athlete?
No. Most people we treat are recreational runners, gym-goers and cyclists. The technique is chosen for your load, and any consistent load counts.
How is it different from a deep tissue massage?
Sports massage varies pressure and technique by goal and timing. Deep tissue holds firm, slow pressure to release long-standing restriction. One is about your training load, the other about weeks-old tension.
How often should I book one?
Once a month in a normal training period, every two weeks in a heavy block or marathon build. Around a race, one in the week before and one a few days after.
Can I book right before a race?
Two to three days before is better than the day before. Deep work close to a race can leave your legs feeling flat exactly when you need them sharp.
Will I be sore afterwards?
Mild tenderness for a day is normal, especially at a first session. It should not stop you training. If it does, tell us and we adjust the pressure next time.
Can I combine it with training?
Yes. Clients on 1-on-1 personal training often add a monthly sports massage. Schedule it after a session or on a rest day.
