Frequently asked questions
What is an ice bath?
A controlled immersion in water between roughly 4 and 8 degrees for one to three minutes, also called a cold plunge. The cold triggers a stress response, and the point is learning to stay calm inside it.
Is an ice bath actually good for you?
For mood, alertness and stress tolerance the evidence is reasonable. For muscle recovery it is more mixed, and cold immediately after strength training can blunt the adaptation you just trained for. Book it on a rest day. If your goal is recovery from a hard effort, a sports massage is the better tool.
What if I get in and cannot handle it?
You step out. Nobody comments on it. Most people who step out at 20 seconds the first time manage a full minute on their second visit.
Do I have to do the ice bath?
No. Some people come for the breathwork alone and watch the rest. Same price, no pressure at any point.
Who should not do this?
Not suitable with a heart condition, uncontrolled high blood pressure, Raynaud's, epilepsy, or during pregnancy. Tell us in advance and we will say honestly whether to come. Never do an ice bath alone or in open water without supervision.
What is breathwork?
A guided sequence of controlled breathing, here cycles of deep breathing followed by a breath hold. It draws on the Wim Hof method. We are not a Wim Hof certified centre; we use the breathing principles because they work.
Can you book it for a group?
Yes, up to 60 people across multiple rounds. Company outings and teambuilding days are a large part of what we run, and it is one of our wellness experiences. It pairs well with a group training session in the morning.
