Description
For the shoulder that will not loosen, the lower back that aches after sitting, the calves that never recovered from a marathon. A deep tissue massage works slowly and firmly into the deeper muscle layers and fascia to release tension that has been there for weeks. €120 for 60 minutes, in the spa of a five-star hotel on Dam Square.
- Duration: 60 minutes
- Price: €120
- Location: Spa & Wellness Club, Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, Dam Square
- Languages: English and Dutch
- Open to: Everyone. You do not need to be a hotel guest
Our therapists also coach strength training, which means they read your body as a moving system rather than a set of sore spots. You leave knowing why the tension is there, not just with it gone for two days.
What you get
- Two or three areas worked properly. Not a superficial pass over your whole body. Slow strokes and sustained pressure need time.
- Intense but never sharp. You should breathe normally throughout. A guarded muscle cannot release, so pressure is adjusted the moment you say so.
- Trigger point work included. Small knots that refer pain elsewhere are released as part of the session, not sold separately.
- Homework that holds. A few specific things to do at home, which is usually where the lasting change comes from.
- Spa access included. Locker rooms, bathrobes, towels, amenities, water and coffee.
Frequently asked questions
What is a deep tissue massage?
Slow strokes and sustained pressure reaching muscle layers and fascia that a relaxing massage does not touch. Fascia is the connective tissue wrapping your muscles, and it is often where restriction actually sits.
Which massage should I book?
Deep tissue for tension that has been there for weeks. Sports massage around training, races or hard blocks. Relaxation massage when you want to switch off.
Does it hurt?
It should feel intense but never sharp. Some tenderness the next day is normal and usually gone within 48 hours.
How often should I book one?
Every two to four weeks for ongoing tension, or once after a hard training block or race. The tissue needs time between sessions.
When is it not the right choice?
Acute injury, an inflamed joint, a recent tear, pregnancy, blood clotting disorders, or certain skin and vascular conditions. Tell us beforehand and we will say so honestly rather than take the booking.
Can two of us book at the same time?
Yes, that is our duo massage: two therapists, one room, €240 for both.
Can I combine it with training?
Yes. Book it after training or on a rest day, not before. Deep tissue work leaves muscles temporarily less responsive.
