Description

At 7:00 the canals belong to you. A private guided run through the canal belt with a coach who sets the route and paces you, so your morning run doubles as seeing the city. €75 per person, 60 minutes, starting from a five-star hotel on Dam Square.

  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Price: €75 per person
  • Distance: 5 to 10 km, or your own
  • Start: Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, Dam Square
  • Available: From 7:00 on weekdays
  • Requirement: You can run 5 km without stopping

You run at your speed. This is not a group with a fixed tempo where the slowest person spends an hour apologising.

What you get

  • Coaching, not commentary. Your running technique gets watched and corrected while you go, which an app cannot do.
  • A route built for you. Canal belt and Jordaan at 5 km, Amstel and Vondelpark at 8 to 10 km, or your own distance if you are training for something.
  • Flat and mostly car-free early. The parts of the centre worth seeing at running speed.
  • Warm-up and mobility included. Short warm-up outside, then the run, then mobility work at the end.
  • Showers and spa locker rooms afterwards. Bathrobes, towels, amenities, water and coffee, so you can go straight to a meeting.

Frequently asked questions

What if it rains?

The run goes ahead. Amsterdam in the rain is a normal condition rather than an exception, and you have a hot shower and a bathrobe waiting. If the weather is genuinely dangerous we move indoors or reschedule.

How fast do we run?

Your pace. We ask beforehand what your usual 5k pace is and plan from there. Nobody is dragged along or held back.

Can I do this the morning I arrive?

Yes, and it is one of the better ways to handle jetlag. Morning daylight and easy movement do more for your body clock than a nap.

What if I cannot run 5 km yet?

Start with a 1-on-1 personal training session instead. We will tell you so rather than sell you this.

What should I bring?

Running shoes and running clothes. Everything else, including towels and toiletries, is in the spa locker rooms.

Can you book it for a group?

Yes. Groups of friends, running clubs and company outings all book it, and it is one of our wellness experiences. Larger groups are split by pace, and it pairs well with a group training session.
